Calcium hypochlorite for water-treatment exists as a white granular powder and has the formula of Ca(OCl)2. It has a strong scent of chlorine but is more stable than chlorine. It exists as both anhydrous and hydrated forms, giving a basic aqueous solution.

Calcium hypochlorite is a good chlorine derivative and can release chlorine upon reactions. It is a solid substitute for liquid sodium hypochlorite for water treatment and bleaching.

It can be widely used as algicide,bactericide disinfectant,bleaching agent or oxidant because of the available chlorine in the product.For example, it has a wonderful disinfections for swimming pool, drinking water,cooling tower & ore dressing and waste water, food, farming, fishery, hospital, cshool, station and household etc., good bleaching and oxidation are also found in paper and dye industrial.

3.  Application:

Deodorant, oxidizing agent, bleaching agent. 

Calcium hypochlorite for swimming pool and Calcium hypochlorite for waste water is used as sanitation, and other water treatment plants. 

Calcium hypochlorite for drinking water is also used to disinfect drinking water, equipment in the industry and surfaces and equipment in kitchens. 

Further, it is used to bleach textiles and paper. 

It is also employed in bathroom cleaners and laundry detergents. 

It is used as an oxidizing agent in Organic Chemistry . 

It is involved in the cleavage of glycols, alfa-hydroxy carboxylic acids and keto acids to yield fragmented aldehydes or carboxylic acids respectively. 

It plays an important role in the haloform reaction to prepare chloroform.
